Bob and Geraldine Whitaker of Tuttle will be celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Tuttle Round Up Club Building.
Geraldine (Rose) Whitaker is a native Tuttle resident. She is the daughter of the late J.B. and Ola (Cox) Rose who were also native residents and farmed in the Tuttle area for many years. Geraldine was the oldest of 10 children from the Rose family all of which attended Tuttle Public Schools.
On Aug. 8, 1956, Geraldine met Bobby Wayne Whitaker, Sr., a native of Wanette, Okla. Bob is the son of the late Joseph and Lola (Roberson) Whitaker who were native farmers in the Wanette area.
Exactly 24 days after they met, Bob and Geraldine were married on Sept. 1, 1956. After they were married, Bob served in the Air Force while Geraldine stayed home with their two children Trela (Whitaker) Miller and Bobby Wayne Whitaker, Jr.
The Whitaker family moved to Tuttle in 1969 and still live in the same place.
Both children currently reside in Tuttle and have raised their children here as well. Grandchildren of Bob and Geraldine are Rusty Miller, Darren Whitaker and LeAnda Whitaker.
