The public continues to view nursing as the nation's most honest and ethical profession, according to the latest annual Gallup Poll.
For the eighth straight year, nurses topped Gallup's list of occupations rated for their honesty and ethical standards, earning high marks from more than four in five Americans surveyed. Placing second and fourth were pharmacists and doctors, rated highly by 73 percent and 69 percent of Americans, respectively.
“I certainly agree with this ranking,” said Mike Nunamaker, CEO of Grady Memorial Hospital. “Throughout my career, I have observed the commitment and dedication nurses bring to their profession. Not only are they highly skilled by training and continuing education, they also bring to the bedside a sense of empathy and compassion that speeds the healing process.”
“I am especially proud of our staff here at Grady,” said Nunamaker, “and not at all surprised by this ranking or the ranking of pharmacists and doctors. Day after day I observe the best that man-kind has to offer in these professions and that observation is service to others.”
