Tigers capture Class 4A state baseball crown

The Tuttle Times

SHAWNEE -- Third-ranked Tuttle beat No. 4 Weatherford, 8-2, Saturday to win the Class 4A state baseball championship at Ed Skelton Field. It was the Tigers' second title in four years to go with two runner up finishes.

Coach Shawn Streater’s Tigers, who have won at least 30 games each of the past four seasons, beat Lone Grove and Blanchard in the previous two days to advance to the championship game.

Garrett Bayliff pitched a complete-game despite having just one-days rest after throwing 124 pitches in Thursday's opening round.

Christian Ellis, Thursday's hero with a walkoff homer against Lone Grove, had three hits, including rbi singles in the first and third innings.

Tuttle racked up 10 hits in the game, which included four doubles. The Tigers had five stolen bases.

Bayliff held Weatherford to five hits, with the Eagles only runs coming in bottom of the fifth.
