Tuttle student wins at Denver

Dylan McGill, of Tuttle, and his Dorset lamb Dusty took the title of Reserve Breed Dorset at the National Western Stock Show in Denver.

In 1906, the National Western Stock Show began a tradition of inviting FFA and 4-H members from all over the United States to exhibit and compete against each other to determine the best livestock.

The tradition continues today. Dylan McGill, the Tuttle FFA Treasurer and a Choctaw tribal member, traveled to Denver this year to be a part of the tradition. He and Dusty, walked away with Reserve Breed Dorset. Dylan was honored to participate in the long tradition of excellence and to represent his state.

Of the thousands of junior market animals that compete at the National Western Stock Show each year, only 90 of the very best were allowed to participate in the Auction of Junior Livestock Champions that was held Jan. 22 in the Beef Palace Auction Arena.

Dylan and Dusty were honored to be among the best who were allowed to participate. Dylan will use the money that Dusty brought to purchase future projects and to enhance his show string.

Dylan is the son of C.L. and Melinda McGill. He is the grandson of the late Floyd and LaRue Hamilton, and the brother of Taylor McGill. Dylan is the nephew of Kimberly Marshall. He is supported by a large family of great aunts and uncles.
