Minco blood drive to help Morgan McMullen

The Tuttle Times

Healthy, Minco-area residents, age 17 and older, are encouraged to donate in an Oklahoma Blood Institute blood drive for Morgan McMullen Monday, April 13. The drive will be held from noon to 3:30 p.m. in the Minco High School Auditorium, 302 Burt St.

Blood donation credits from this drive will be offered to McMullen’s family to help defer the cost of blood needed by McMullin.

All donors will receive free health screenings, Members for Life points to redeem at OBI’s online store and a ‘donor hero’ T-shirt.

“We appreciate Minco High School for sponsoring this vital blood drive,” said John Armitage, M.D., Oklahoma Blood Institute president and chief executive. “And on behalf of the patients and hospitals we serve, we thank every blood donor who answers the call to make a difference in the lives of those who are in need. Who knows, it could be a co-worker, a friend, maybe even a member of the family who needs blood unexpectedly.”

Donations take about an hour and can be made every 56 days. OBI provides every drop of blood used by most hospitals statewide.

Oklahoma Blood Institute is the eleventh largest, non-profit blood center in America. In 2007, more than 127,600 donors provided more than 250,000 gifts of blood used for transfusion and associated clinical services in more than 150 medical facilities in Oklahoma and north central Texas. OBI employs nearly 700 Oklahomans and works with an estimated 800 volunteers and 2,600 drive coordinators.

To schedule an appointment to donate blood at any OBI site, call 1-866-341-8728, or visit www.obi.org to see a list of blood drives and donor centers in your area.
