Five Receive OSU Scholarships
Hogland, Howe, Kennedy, Osborn, and Way awarded Fleming Scholarships
STILLWATER – Five Grady County students were honored by Oklahoma State University at the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Scholarships and Awards Banquet on April 4.
In all, approximately $434,100 was awarded at the banquet, part of $967,075 in scholarships and awards presented this spring to deserving OSU agriculture students for the 2008-2009 school year.
“This year the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources set another record for scholarships awarded,” said Ed Miller, CASNR associate dean. “New freshman, transfer and continuing students will benefit from the wonderful generosity of our many donors.”
Emily Hogland, Tuttle, was awarded a $750 Joseph Fleming Memorial Scholarship and a $750 Paul D. Hummer Scholarship. She is an agricultural education major and a 2005 graduate of Tuttle High School. She is the daughter of Melinda Hogland.
Blanchard resident Mindi Howe was awarded a $750 Joseph Fleming Memorial Scholarship. She is majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology and is a 2005 graduate of Alex High School. She is the daughter of Lewis and Robbi Howe.
Shae Kennedy, Tuttle, was presented a $500 Joseph Fleming Memorial Scholarship. A 2007 graduate of Tuttle High School, she is majoring in agricultural communications. She is the daughter of Terry and Kimberly Kennedy.
A 2007 graduate of Amber-Pocasset High School, Will Osborn received a $500 Joseph Fleming Memorial Scholarship. He is majoring in agribusiness and is the son of Tim and Leslie Osborn.
Erin Way is majoring in animal science. The 2005 graduate of Tuttle High School was presented with $1,000 Joseph Fleming Memorial Scholarship and a $1,000 Julius Caesar Matli Endowed Scholarship. She is the daughter of Kim and Daren Paddyaker.
“It is exciting to celebrate the accomplishments of incoming students as well as those who will be graduating soon,” Miller said. “Our students have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service while achieving the highest level of academic performance again this year and our awards banquet provides an opportunity to recognize their accomplishments. Awards for leadership and academic performance and the presentation of scholarships build pride in our students and their families, the faculty, donors and other supporters of both the college and division as a whole.”
The college is part of the OSU Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, along with two statewide agencies: the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station and Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service.
