— The Grady County Commissioners met for another short meeting on Monday, April 21.
The first item on the agenda was approval of a claim for the loss of revenue for Grady County and school districts due to additional homestead exemptions allowed for the year 2007 in the amount of $80,735. 54.
According to Grady County Assessor Bari Firestone, county claims for such losses are supposed to be reimbursed by the state but Grady County has not been reimbursed for the claims for the past five years.
The next action was to approve an EMPG sub-grant. According to Emergency Management Director Dale Thompson, the $15,500 grant is a yearly performance grant through the State Emergency Management Office.
An application for permit by Indian Nations Fiber Optics to lay buried cable that was tabled at last week’s meeting was approved. District No. 2 Commissioner Mike Lennnier stipulated on the permit that the cable be laid in line with existing fencing with no variation. In addition, Lennier requested that an on-site agreement between himself and Indian Nation Fiber Optics be included with the application for permit.
District No. 3 Commissioner Jack Porter accepted a bid from Hale Agri-Service Co. of Marlow for roadside spraying in district three for a cost of $20 per mile. Hale was the only bidder.
Similarly, there was only one bidder on chemicals used for roadside spraying for all districts. The bid from Estes, Inc. of Oklahoma City was accepted for various chemicals. The board will check the state contract for chemicals not included in the bid.
