Big changes are in the works for the city of Tuttle.
According to interim City Manager Don Cluck, construction for new water lines and the new ion exchange water plant will kick off around the first of May and will continue for the next 18 months, beginning with the pipeline phase.
The city has 34.5 square miles of area in which to lay new pipe as well as seven to eight miles of pipe to be laid down the highway.
“Just bear with us while we’re in the big construction phase,” asks Cluck. “When it’s all done, it will make us totally independent and we won’t have to buy water from anyone.”
Because new pipelines will be laid throughout the city, workers will be marking the locations of existing water and gas lines as well as other underground utilities by placing flags and spray painting the locations on yards. Cluck asks residents not to remove the flags as they provide crews with important information.
In addition, Grady County is also assisting the city of Tuttle with several road improvements. According to Cluck, areas of road construction include N. Richland, N. Frisco, Tyler between Cemetery and Hwy 4 and N. Morgan Rd., about six miles of road repairs in all.
