Fun, food, games, fireworks planned

For the sixth consecutive year, the Chickasha Arts Council will host the July fourth Family Fun Festival at Shannon Springs Park in Chickasha.

The official starting time is 3 p.m. and will last until the fabulous fireworks display presented by many of our local businesses.

There will be a mechanical bull and a bungee jump with both offering difficulty levels for all ages. An inflatable obstacle course completes the physical activities.

CAAC will be headquartered in the bathhouse and will once again provide free craft projects for children under the age of 12. Chalk art drawing will be available in the area behind the bathhouse.

Vendors will feature crafts, novelties, gifts and many other items. Children will enjoy the antics of Pepper the Clown and face painting. One of Chickasha’s finest barbeque vendors will be on hand along with sno-cones and shaved ice.

Blues Extravaganza will provide a free concert beginning at 6 p.m.

Tuttle Festival

The city of Tuttle will hold its 17th annual Ice Cream Festival on July 4 beginning with a parade from Tuttle High School to Schrock Park starting at 10 a.m.

The Tuttle Citizen of the Year will be presented at 11:30 a.m. followed by a free ice cream eating contest at noon. Turtle races will be held beginning at 1:30 p.m., with a $500 savings bond going to the big winner. The Princess Pageant will start at 5 p.m.

Exciting hot air balloon rides will be available for $20 per person and the balloon will be on display in the park all day. A patriotic salute wiii be held at 7:30 p.m. and the band “Etowah Road” will be performing a free concert at 7:45 p.m.

Other activities will include live music on the festival stage from park opening until the pageant begins and there will be a Children’s Tent featuring free activities from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and of course, The evening will end with a fireworks show beginning at 9:45 p.m.
