Tuttle wins, sets sights on Clinton
Second-ranked Tuttle remained unbeaten Friday, beating Blanchard 35-0, and setting up a much anticipated shootout this Friday night against third ranked Clinton.
The Tigers were not guility of looking ahead as they took care of business by holding Blanchard to only seven first downs and 139 yards total offense.
Tuttle rolled up 235 yards on the ground and an additional 61 passing, including a 17-yard touchdown strike from Sterling Koons to Chris Williams to open the scoring in the first quarter. Bobby Stonebreaker hit the first of five extra points to give The Tigers the 7-0 lead.
Tuttle struck twice in the second quarter on a one-yard run by Paco Moore and a two-yard keeper by Koons.
Moore added a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and the Tigers capped the night with a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown by Mark Legako.
Tuttle moves to 5-0 at the mid-point of the 2008 season with Clinton holding a 4-1 mark. Both teams are 2-0 in District 3A-1. Clinton’s lone loss was earlier in the year to unbeaten Chandler.
“Clinton has had a good year so far and they’re always a great team year in and year out, said Tuttle Head Coach Phil Koons.
The game will match up Clinton running back Delans Griffin against a stingy Tiger defense.
Griffin has rushed for 954 and 16 touchdowns in his five games. He’ll face a Tiger defensive unit that only allows 55 yards rushing yards a game.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday.
In other games last week, Minco lost to Christian Heritage 28-7, Bridge Creek beat Washington 31-21, Mustang beat Lawton 40-19 and Newcatle blanked Anadarko 28-0.,
This week, Minco is at Watonga, Bridge Creek travels to Lindsay, Blanchard goes to Cache, Mustang is at Norman North and Newcastle. is at Santa Fe South.
