Dinner, silent auction to benefit Waggoner

An Indian Taco dinner and silent auction is planned to benefit James "Jimmy" Waggoner on Friday, Oct. 24 at the Tuttle Round-up Club on Main Street.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and dinner will be served from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

A silent auction will also be held between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Jimmy, a long-time Tuttle resident, was diagnosed with carcinoid tumors of the abdomen in June, 2005. This is a cancer so rare there are only 5 five places in the United States that treat it, with the closest place being New Orleans. Jimmy has traveled to New Orleans several times for treatment and has undergone surgery there as well. His career serving as an Oklahoma City Fireman began in 1975. He retired in 2002 after 27 years on the job. Jimmy has been married to Carla since June 1973. They have three children, Chris Waggoner and wife Erin of Houston, Amy Taylor and husband Justin of Tuttle and Stephen Waggoner and wife Becca of Norman. Their children all graduated from Tuttle High School. They have four grandchildren, Christina, Dylan, and twins Abby and Ashley.

Friends and family are gathering to help with the dinner and auction to raise money for treatment, travel and accommodations. Jimmy was recently approved to travel to Switzerland where he will undergo special treatment. Each trip will cost roughly $15,000. His first trip for treatment will be in December.
