Tuttle chamber honors residents

The Tuttle Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Snow Hill Baptist Church in Tuttle, with about 200 persons in attendance.

The theme, “Let’s Luau,” included the Grace Hula Dancers, a fire dancer and a meal catered by Nachito’s and served by Tuttle High School Student Council members.

The chamber honored teachers of the year and gave Community Service Awards to deserving individuals.

Teachers of the year included Shelli Mahoney for her six years at Tuttle, Elementary School, Donna Windsor, for her 15 years of service at Tuttle Intermediate School, Debra Ruminer for 34 years of teaching at Tuttle Middle School and Adult Education Teacher Connie Banta for 25 years of teaching at Tuttle High School.

Tuttle Police Officer Andrew Graham was named Police Officer of the Year for his “attention to duty and his desire to make the community of Tuttle a better place to live.”

Paramedic Adam Simmons accepted a service award given to fellow paramedic Chuck Morrison naming Morrison as EMS Employee of the Year for caring deeply about his profession and the people he serves as well as his ability to bring calmness to chaotic situations.

Finally, volunteer firefighter Scotty Turner was named Fireman of the Year for his 30 years as a firefighter and Tuttle Water Superintendent Steve McVicker was named City Employee of the Year for his efforts in getting the city’s new water plant online.
