22 complete ‘boot camp’

Proving that fitness begins at any age, 22 men and women completed “Tracy’s Over 50 Boot Camp” held at High Velocity Fitness Center throughout the month of September.

These people, from Tuttle, Newcastle and Bridge Creek communities, made a decision to start a new phase in their life that will enable them to do more, to enjoy more, to remain active and to play with their children and grandchildren for many years to come.

Listen to the words of some of the participants, ages 50 to 68: “Staying healthy makes every day much happier” and “This Boot Camp was a fun experience that motivated us toward greater ideals for fitness and nutrition. We may be a little slower and a little weaker but we still have heart. Thanks to Tracy for inspiring us.”

Even more amazing to watch was seeing these men and women inspire and encourage each other. One comment in the Boot Camp evaluation was, “It was terrific to watch everyone progress and realize our age did not limit our potential.” After all their hard work, these incredibly dedicated people lost more than 100 inches.

This session’s winner was Sharlotte Epps and second place went to Wallace Mellinger. The third place winner was Linda Reeves. All of the participants were rewarded with a trip to an all-you-can-eat buffet to celebrate the start of their new lives.

During the four-week boot camp, they met two times a week for two hours, working out and learning about food guidelines, strength training and flexibility. Exercises consisted of walking and power-walking for cardio, and using light weights and their own body weight for strength and bone density improvement.

Again, the participants themselves say it best: “A great class for us over 50,” and “I found out I can run…even when I have to use the inhaler.”

You too can start today and become the best possible YOU, no matter what your age. It’s never too late. Comments such as: “I enjoyed meeting new friends and getting back in shape,” and “This was an excellent class and everyone should do one in their lifetime,” and “I recommend this class to anyone over 50” were made.

If you want to be fit and fabulous over 50, get healthy with Tracy. Speak loudly as to the motivational power included in these classes. Be sure to check in at High Velocity Fitness Center for future “Tracy’s Over 50 Boot Camps” and for information on gym and group fitness memberships or even personal training options, all possible tools useful to help you set and reach your own fitness goals.
