Tri-City Soccer
registration set
Children ages 4-18 may register for the Tri-City Soccer Association online at www.tcsasoccer.org. Register by Jan. 15 and save $10. You may also register in person at the Newcastle Community Center Jan. 16-30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Grady County Tea Party to meet
Grady County residents are invited to attend the next TEA Party meeting on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Canadian Valley Technology Center, 1401 Michigan, Chickasha. The non-partisan meeting will be an open forum with plans for the upcoming year to be discussed. Everyone is encouraged to attend and help set the agenda. Prom, Pageant
auction set
Prom and pageant gowns, swim suits, shoes, cocktail dresses, earrings and accessories will be auctioned on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 40 Worley Creek Drive in Tuttle. Consignment check in begins at 9 a.m. and the auction starts at 3 p.m. Call 405-381-4527 for more information. There will be a 25 percent consignment fee that will benefit True Oak Fellowship Youth.
Hwy 37 Country Band to hold dance
The Hwy 37 Country Band will have a New Year’s eve dance on Thursday, Dec. 31 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Tuttle Round Up building. Bring your favorite finger foods. Admission is $4. For more information, call Darlene at 381-2473.
Gracemont to host Bluegrass concert
Gracemont presents its third annual Bluegrass Music Concert, Jan. 30, in the Multi-Purpose Building, 5th & Gracemont, Gracemont, featuring Richard McGlothlin & Boggy River Bluegrass. Admission is $10, and includes dinner. Kids under 10 years are free. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m., concert at 7 p.m. For more information call 405-641-2318.
Learning Center offers classes
Free GED prep, adult basic education and family literacy classes are offered in Tuttle, Mustang and Newcastle. These classes are for adults who need to work on basic educational skills or prepare for their GED. In Tuttle, the classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday, 6-9 p.m. at the Tuttle High School; in Mustang, the classes meet on Monday 5:30 - 8 p.m. and Tuesday 12:30 - 3 p.m. at the Mustang Wild Horse Towne Center; and in Newcastle, the classes are held from 5:30 - 8 p.m. For more information, call 405-222-6562.
English as a
second language
An adult (16 years and older) based class for individuals whose first language is not English is held Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mustang. Enroll in person for free class. Call 405-222-6562 for information.
Free GED Prep Distance Learning
Open enrollment for the GED/Distance Learning can be made by contacting the Adult Learning Center, 628 W. Kansas, Chickasha. Students must have reliable internet access with email address, possess basic computer skills, maintain a working phone connection, pre and post-test taken at the ALC, work a minimum of six hours weekly, possess a high level of motivation, score a minimum of 8.0 TABE pre-assessment and 9.0 on reading pre--assessment.
