Joyce Dean Henley
Funeral services for Joyce Dean Henley, age 71, of McAlester, Oklahoma were held Monday, May 22, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel with Arnold Cochran and Gerald Heggis officiating.
Joyce Dean Henley was born on Dec. 27, 1934 in Shady Grove, Oklahoma to Jesse and Susie (Green) Thompson and died Friday, May 19, 2006 at her home in McAlester. She grew up in Shady Grove and attended school there. She married Leroy Henley on March 27, 1953 in McAlester. She worked at Seamprufe and Komar for several years, then, when her husband Leroy, began his own plumbing business, she became the bookkeeper, which she did throughout their lives. She enjoyed sewing and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and spending time with her family. She was a member of the North A St. Church of Christ.
Surviving relatives: Husband: Leroy Henley of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Dorietta Henley of Clearwater, FL, Pam and Dale Timmons of McAlester, Tanya and Josh Soblaskey of Tuttle; seven grandchildren: Billy and Amber Wheeler of Lubbock, TX, Kevin Connor of McAlester, Kellye and Jason Semeski of Hartshorne, Marly and Billie Soblaskey of McAlester, Tyler and Kaitlyn Soblaskey of Tuttle, Ronald Green of McAlester; one great granddaughter: Brooklyn Wheeler of Lubbock; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Estelle and Jody Painter of Ulan, Edna Cathey of McAlester; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Haskell and Juanita Thompson of Longview, TX, Doyle and Oralee Thompson of Longview, TX; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home-McAlester with Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Pallbearers: Dennis Cathey, Larry Jernigan, Ronnie Jernigan, Charles Jernigan, Ralph Thompson, Jr. Gary Thompson, Daniel McGee, Jack Thompson, James Thompson; Honorary Pallbearers: Grandsons - Marty Soblaskey, Kevin Connor, Billy Wheeler, Tyler Soblaskey, Jason Semeski.
