ULYSSES ALBERT “SLICK” CHALLIS
Ulysses Albert “Slick” Challis was born January 18, 1927 in Bridgeport, Oklahoma to Ulysses A. and Mae (Clark) Challis. He passed away July 11, 2006 in Oklahoma City, OK. Slick attended school in Bridgeport and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was united in marriage September 18, 1947 to Melva (Murphy) Challis. He lived in the Tuttle area for 31 years and then moved to Oklahoma City after Melva passed away in June 2004. Slick worked as a carpenter all of his life and retired from the carpenters union in 1988. He loved to fish, coon hunt and play cards and dominoes. He loved his family and friends and never met a stranger.
Survivors include: Six children, Pat Shatwell and husband Donald of Tuttle, OK; Troy Challis and wife Cherry of Oklahoma City, OK; Neal Challis and wife Patti of Blanchard, OK; Wayne Challis and wife Rita of Tuttle, OK; Terry Challis and wife Lorane of Bethany, OK; Cheryl Clawson and husband Johnny of Oklahoma City, OK; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three brothers: Jilly Challis of Bethany, OK, Raymond Challis of Clinton, OK and Roy Challis of Wichita Falls, Texas; five sisters: Helen Townsend of Henrietta, Texas; Florence McGraw of Edmond, OK; Mary Francis West and Ella Mae Allen both of Midwest City, OK and Lenora Anderson of Moore, OK.
Slick was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter and three siblings. Services were held graveside on July 17, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Hinton, OK, under the direction of Hinton-Turner Funeral Home.
RICCI RACHELLE POLK
Graveside services for Ricci Rachelle Polk, 36 former Minco resident were held Friday, July 21, 2006, 10 am at the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco. Rev. Steven Massey officiated under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home of Minco.
Ricci Rachelle Polk was born March 24, 1970 in Oklahoma City to Tony Barba and Sandra Stiles and died Monday, July 10, 2006 at Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Ricci had lived in Oklahoma most of her life and worked as a game operator for a traveling carnival.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Sandra (Stiles) Sultuska and Tony Barba.
Survivors include Stepfather: Rodney Sultuska of Oklahoma City; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Doug and Janis Polk of Blanchard and Tony Polk of Oklahoma City; one daughter: Jessica Polk of Oklahoma City; one sister and brother-in-law: Donise and Jeremiah Gwin of Minco; one brother: Chris Barba of Boley; two grandchildren: Damien and Charley Polk of Blanchard.
