Lady Tigers runners up at Wellston tournament

The Tuttle Junior High Lady Tigers swept Lindsay last week, with the seventh, eighth and ninth graders all defeating their Lindsay opponents.

The seventh grade Lady Tigers continue to roll, defeating Lindsay 38-16. Earlier in the week the Lady Tigers defeated Marlow and Kingfisher to capture first place in the Tuttle Tournament, bringing their conference wins to 12 in a row and making them one of the top teams in the conference. They will play at Washington this Thursday and at Marlow on Monday. 

 Lindsay box scores were Jones 10, Koons 6, Ward 4, Spear 3, Griffin 3, Hines, 2 , Gibson, 2, Coats, 2, Rumbaugh, 2 and Woodyard, 1.

 The eighth grade Lady Tigers defeated Lindsay 37-23 to increase their record to 12-3. Up by 8 going into the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers press wore down Lindsay as they outscored their opponent 10-4. 

Box scores were Meier 15, Garrett 9, Loard 5, Carel, 4 and Robinette, 2.

The ninth grade Lady Tigers rolled over Lindsay 42-19, using a full court press to get out to a commanding 12-3 first quarter lead and never looked back. All eight players scored in the victor,y increasing their record to 6-6.

Lindsay box scores were Sims 10, Ward 9, Clabaugh 7, Bradbeary, 6, Luce, 2, A White, M. White, and Combs.

Wellston Tournament

The varsity girls finished as runner up in the Wellston 66 tournament, with the 3A ranked number 9 Prague Lady Devils holding on to defeat the Tuttle Lady Tigers in the finals of the Wellston 66 Tournament 45-42.

The Lady Tigers lead at half 17-16 but were outscored by 5 in the third quarter which was the difference in the ball game. The Lady Tigers reached the finals by defeating Yale 61-38 and Luther 54-22. Heading into the finals, the Lady Tigers had won 6 straight games,, with seniors Ashley Long and Abbey Earley making All-Tournament team.

"I was proud of the girls, I thought we played a great tournament and they represented Tuttle with class,"Coach Johnny Vick said.

The Lady Tigers will be in action against 2A #7 Washington at home on Jan. 19.
