Ladies in Kingfisher tourney
The Tuttle High SchoolLady Tigers will take on Bethany 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Wheat Capital Classic held at Kingfisher this weekend.
"It is a tough tournament with good competition. I thought reaching the finals last year was a key turning point in our season,” Coach Johnny Vick said.
RESULTS
The seventh grade girls recently defeated the Marlow Outlaws 43-19. After leading the outlaws 11-8 after the first quarter the Lady Tigers went on a 14-2 run the second quarter to take a commanding 25-10 lead at the half. The Lady Tigers used a balance scoring attack as eight players scored in the contest. The Lady Tigers are now 14-1 and undefeated in conference play.
Box scores were Koons 9, Griffin 9, Jones 8, Coats 5, Rumbaugh 4, Ward 4, Hines 2 and Hickman 2.
The eighth grade girls continue improved to 12-3 and 5-1 in conference play with an impressive 34-9 victory over the outlaws. The lady tigers held the Outlaws scoreles in the first and third quarters.
Box scores were Goertzen 6, Meyer 6, Loard 6, Winters 3, Garrett 2, Robinette 2, Carel 2, Horworke 2, Powell 2 and Welsh 1.
The Lady freshmen come up short against the Marlow Outlaws 24-34.
“The girls gave a great effort in a very physical ball game, we just didn't shoot well tonight. That was the difference in the game," said Vick.
All three teams will be in action Monday at home against Blanchard. Game times start at 5 p.m. in the middle school gym
