Cale Johnson, fifth grader at Tuttle Intermediate School, competed on Aug. 15 in the North American Grappling Association tournament at the Dallas Convention Center. Johnson competed in the Expert Division and won his bracket in both the gi (an outfit worn for karate or jujitsu) and the no-gi competition. He was named Champion and was awarded a Championship belt and a gold medal. Cale trains at Apex in Tuttle, is coached by Scott and Garrick Landis and is encouraged and supported by all of the other competitors training at Apex.
