TUTTLE —
The ladies of Steppin’ Out Dance Studio can’t wait to show off their moves at this year’s recital. Steppin’ Out Dance Studio, under the direction of Tami Franklin, will host it’s 12th annual dance recital, themed Movies and Musicals.
“This year, audience members will see a variety of dances from a ballet waltz, to a modernized Napolean Dynamite hip hop, and a Broadway styled tap dance,” said director Tami Franklin, “I want to do songs that reminded parents and grandparents of their favorite movies, but not to leave out the children either.”
A few favorites are “Sing, Sing, Sing”, Flashdance, Top Gun, Oklahoma!, “Seasons of Love” and Willy Wonka.
With help from teachers, Kira Schmult and Lacey Homme, and student teachers, Kayci Stockstill, Jennifer Gripe, Megan Michaud, Jill Alexander and Brianna Then, the recital will have an entertaining 40 numbers. A specific number to look for will be the student teacher dance, which Is “If You Were Here” from Sixteen Candies. Another dance to look forward to is Lauren McKenzie’s tenth year dance.
“It’s been a long ten years,” said Lauren, “but totally worth getting to do a solo.”
The high school group will also prove to entertain as they dance their way through Chicago, Troy, Down With Love and E.T. High school dancers include Kayci Stookstill, Alyssa Henderson, Rachel Ferree, Jennifer Gripe, Janna Gibson, Jordan Wolf, Megan Michaud and Krislyn Gottman, who will be featured In Troy.
The 12th annual recital will be performed during the weekend of May 5th and 6th at West Moore High School, 12613 S. Western Ave. Moore, and will be free of charge to anyone who would like to come see it.
The show times are 7 p.m. on May 5 and 3:30 p.m. on May 6.
