THS band receives Superior rating at contest

SAN ANTONIO —
The Tuttle High School Band went to the Blue Bonnet Classic music festival in San Antonio, Texas April 21-23. The band, directed by Joseph Thompson, received a superior ranking in the 3-A high school band division.
The senior members of the band were excited to receive such an honor in their last year of band. Kelsey Hostetter, senior, said “I’m glad that I got to go on such a nice trip my senior year.”
The selections that they played included “March to Nowhere” by Vaclav Nelyhbel, and “Covington Square” by James Swearingen.
Band members include, Flutes: Kamber Miller and Autumn Rillema. Clarinets: Sabra Kernes, Amber Brooks, Kevin Gottman, Macy Rawlings, and Vickie Newman. Trumpets: Amber Wynn, Matt Condren, Amanda Depee, Joseph Plumlee, Brittany Newman, and Skyler Parker. Trombone: Jacob Andrews. Saxophones: John Moore, Kelsey Hostetter, and Casey Cornell. Percussionists include Calica Mitchell, Shonna Starr and Jennifer Dobie.
Members of Band Boosters on the trip included Larry and Janice Moore, Laura Dobie, Angie Plumlee, and Joseph and Janie Thompson.
“The band trip was a lot of fun. I was really glad when we received our division one superior trophy,” Hostetter said.
Some seniors on their last trip included Kelsey Hostetter, Casey Cornell, and Jacob Andrews. Casey Cornell, senior, said “Casey had fun.”
The next thing the Tuttle high School band will perform is a concert on Thursday, May 11 at 7 p.m.
