Tuttle honors academic achievements

Melody Dobbins
Student Reporter

TUTTLE On Tuesday, April 25, Tuttle High School held its annual academic banquet, honoring the academically talented Tuttle High School students. The academic banquet was sponsored by students in the National Honor Society (NHS) under the direction of Mrs. McPherson. McPherson graciously accepted a bouquet of flowers along with the thanks for all of her hard work and dedication.

Tuttle High School students were honored for various achievements earned throughout the year, including Superintendent's Honor Roll, Quiz Bowl, National Honor Society, and Oklahoma Honor Society. The honor graduates from the class of 2006 were also recognized.

Membership in National Honor Society is awarded to those with a 3.8 GPA or above, while membership in Oklahoma Honor Society is given to those in the top 10 percent of their class. Those students on the Superintendent's Honor Roll have had straight A's for two or more blocks. Quiz Bowl members are dedicated students who joined the school's academic team and represented Tuttle High School at academic meets.

In addition to the awards given to those who qualified for Superintendent's Honor Roll, Quiz Bowl, the NHS and the Oklahoma Honor Society (OHS), academically talented seniors were rewarded for their years of diligence. Along with two valedictorians, Michelle Dodson and Bailey Williams, and two salutatorians, Sabrina Prosser and Jill Watson, this year a new title called "'Honor Graduate" was given out to several students who had a GPA of 4.0 or higher. These students included: Kyle Condren, Melody Dobbins, Krislyn Gottman, Kolby Hambright, Nathan Holliday, Micah Prosser, Halee Rogers, Lana Steverson and Rodney Williams.

Students look forward to the next academic banquet, for another chance to achieve membership in NHS and OHS. Membership in these organizations, in addition to rewarding students for their hard work, gives students an edge in getting scholarships.
