On May 11, Tuttle High School held its annual Spring Fling celebration. Spring Fling was hosted by the Tuttle Student Council (STUCO), under the direction of Susan Reedy.
Bryce Richardson, a Tuttle High School graduate, returned to host the third annual Tuttle High School talent show, “Tuttle Idol,” before the official start of Spring Fling. Fifteen students and a few talented teachers took to the stage and displayed their star quality.
Four celebrity judges and the randomly selected student judges selected Krislyn Gottman for the “Solo” category. Julien Francisco and Clay Freeze won the “Instrumental” category. The dance group “'Tornado” won the “Dance” category. Calicia Mitchell and Samantha Oliver won the band category. The overall winner of the title “Tuttle Idol” was presented to Roman Calhoun for his outstanding pop & lock dance routine.
In addition to Tuttle Idol, there were a variety of food vendors at Spring Fling. Mrs. Lollis’s FCCLA held a bake sale. Representatives from Mazzios, Taco Bell, and Subway were also present. STUCO members made sure the outside area was kept litter free during the day.
Groups of students and teachers also enjoyed a powder puff football game between the seniors and juniors. The senior class won the coveted “golden football” for the second time, defeating the juniors 14-6.
“The powder puff game was brutal,” said Tuttle junior, Tommie Littleton. “But I survived and I didn’t even cry.”
Other amusements included a dodge ball tournament, a blow up obstacle course, and seeing Mr. Ragsdale receive a pie... in his face.
